This rendition of the ballet is set in a proscenium theatre. Giselle and Duke Albrecht are personified by the power of the equinox and flow of the sun and moon. Act one is set on a countryside with a daisy field overlooking the stage. The slatted portal and legs are inspired by cottages and wooden clapboard siding. Act two provides contrast and lifts us from the stereotypical forest seen in some versions of the ballet. The portals in act two merry the show portal, giving us a full circle. Act two is set to take the audience to the supernatural and provide a wicked, enchanted place for the Willie’s to dance their revenge.
